It keeps the extraction path open. A bar sealer draws air along one edge; without a structure the film layers collapse together and the remaining air stays inside. A vacuum chamber extracts all round, where smooth film is sufficient.

Are the bags suitable for sous-vide?

The boil-proof version is, being rated for sustained temperature in a water bath. Standard vacuum bags are not. Temperature limit and material suitability are stated in the film supplier specification, which is supplied with the goods.

Are there recyclable vacuum bags?

In PE mono-material yes. The common PA/PE combination is not recyclable as a single polymer. Mono-material has a lower barrier, which often does not matter where turnover is fast.

What matters here

The embossing is a channel system, not decoration

Bar sealers extract along one edge. Without a structure the film layers collapse onto each other and close the path. The embossing keeps it open. Inside a vacuum chamber it is redundant and smooth film is enough.

The seam withstands the pressure differential

After extraction, ambient pressure pulls permanently on every seam. Sealing parameters are designed for that state, not for an empty bag on the test bench.

Boil-proof where boil-proof is required

For sous-vide there is a dedicated version rated for sustained temperature. The standard vacuum bag is not, and we do not ship it for that purpose.

Standard formats and special sizes

Alongside common formats, special sizes are possible because format changes run as a recipe. An intermediate size therefore does not fail on set-up cost.
