Two technology lines, one difference that counts
The DLP series consists of two technology lines. The Intelligent line combines servo active unwind, pulse sealing and recipe-based changeover and processes recyclable PE mono-material. The classic line uses stepper motors with magnetic powder brake and conventional heat sealing for laminates.

The lines side by side
| Intelligent line | Classic line | |
|---|---|---|
| Control | Panasonic GM1, iPad split-screen operation | Panasonic PLC with touchscreen |
| Changeover | "One key to change type", up to 10,000 recipes | Manual via HMI |
| Film unwind | Servo active unwind per reel, ultrasonic reel diameter, absolute encoders | Stepper motors, magnetic powder brake, ultrasonic web guiding |
| Sealing | Pulse sealing: 150 °C / 0.85 s heating, 60 °C / 1 s cooling, no pre-heating | Conventional heat sealing with permanently heated bars |
| Material focus | Mono-material PE (recyclable) and laminates | Laminates |
| Inspection | Computer vision and thermography optional | Visual check, sensors |
Servo active unwind: constant web tension
With passive brake unwind, web tension rises as reel diameter falls. On thin mono-films that is enough to shift the seal position. The Intelligent line drives every reel under servo control, measures diameter ultrasonically and corrects via absolute encoders. Web tension stays identical across the whole reel.
Pulse sealing: a defined temperature profile
Permanently heated bars deliver a joining temperature that varies with cycle time and environment. Pulse sealing heats to 150 °C only at the moment of sealing and then cools actively to 60 °C so the seam solidifies under pressure. That is what makes mono-material PE and Tyvek reproducibly processable at all.
Recipe management: set-up as a data set
Every format is stored with all process parameters: positions, temperatures, times, pressure. On changeover the servo axes travel to the stored values themselves. In medical device manufacturing this reproducibility is the prerequisite for validated processes.
Classic line: deliberately simple
For laminates with a wide sealing window the extra control technology is no advantage. Stepper motors with magnetic powder brake and a Panasonic PLC are robust, easy to manage and serviceable, the more economical choice when no mono-material is processed.

Frequently asked questions
Which line do I need?
- The material decides. If you process laminates with a PET or BOPP outer layer, the classic line is sufficient. If you want recyclable PE mono-material or Tyvek, you need the Intelligent line with pulse sealing.
Can a classic machine be converted to pulse sealing?
- Practically no. Sealing tools, cooling, drives and control are matched to each other. Conversion equals the effort of a new machine.
What does "One key to change type" mean?
- The manufacturer's term for recipe-based changeover: a stored format is recalled at the press of a key and the servo axes travel to the associated positions automatically.
Which control is fitted?
- Panasonic in almost all models: GM1 in the Intelligent line, PLC with touchscreen in the classic line. The exception is the DLP-4500 sealing machine with a Siemens PLC.
